Many paths make a journey...

Our path toward federal acknowledgement

Pokanoket receive support from many government agencies, states and local governments.  With their assistance and the support of many others we are currently seeking recognition status from the United States federal government.  Concurrently we are seeking recognition by the State of Rhode Island.  Considering the opportunities available to a tribe with such status, we feel this is a path that will magnify the ability of Pokanoket to reach out to others who share similar love centered goals.

Our path toward peace

In Pokanoket, change is accepted and welcomed.  We start at the center of our existence and work outward to effect true change.  In seeking self-improvement we seek change.  A wise man once said that a journey begins with a single step.  Another said that becoming who you are supposed to be takes a lifetime.  We have taken a step toward peace and so the journey begins.  The path began many years ago.  We continue the path our ancestors walked.

Other paths we are on

Current paths we are on are numerous.  At this time be assured that all of our paths are centered in love and directed by the Great Spirit.  Pokanoket is always involved in stewardship of the land given to us.  Protection through education and preservation of the earth are integral to who Pokanoket are.  In the future we will open the site to links that you may become involved with that offer a chance to practice this stewardship with us.
